This series of oil paintings are based on the road systems that reflect the local highway interchange patterns of Highway 1 through the Lower Mainland area in southern British Columbia. The use of satellite and drone technologies that map the environment highlights our heavy reliance on high-tech solutions to maintain strict daily commuter schedules free from traffic disruptions. The paradoxical depiction of these large infrastructure investments through a medium that requires considerable patience creates an opportunity in which to contemplate the purpose of paintings and maps.
