The Art Acquisitions, Collections & Loans Policy guides the management of the portion of UFV’s art collection acquired and administered by the School of Creative Arts. Works are considered for acquisition regardless of medium, period, or origin and are intended to foster a milieu of intellectual and artistic freedom, curiosity, cultural sensitivity, creativity and responsibility. Implicit in the act of acquiring works is the commitment to best practices and the preservation, study, security, proper care, exhibition and installation of works throughout UFV, as budgets and time permits. The collection includes: The Student Works Collection (Student Purchase Awards) and The Permanent Art Collection.
By Canadian law, copyright for a work of art belongs to the artist, their designate, or their estate during the lifetime of the artist plus 50 years. UFV SoCA will provide contact information for the copyright holder if available but it is the responsibility of the applicant to acquire permissions to use the image(s).
