Many people have lost someone special in their life or know of someone who has faced a tragic loss. Conversations about mortality, especially the death of a loved one are often avoided in fear of provoking further anguish for those suffering. This piece, however, was created in the spirit of initiating a dialogue to reflect on the brevity of life and its interconnectedness to all other life, both past, present, and future.

The mobius strip, a shape that is universally understood as a symbol of eternity, also reflects my own feelings of reverence for the life we live. The process of working with the delicate materials and shaping them into this life-size sculpture has guided my artistic senses to create an expression of hope in honour of the person whom I lost, grieved and continue to love.
