2021 VA Major Show: From Where I Make

Through the medium of an interactive zine The Unfocused Identity uses different methods to explore what it means to have ADHD, a chronic illness that can oftentimes go unrecognised or undiagnosed. One of the aspects of ADHD is losing things. For example imagine putting something down and immediately forgetting where you have put it, what would your family or friends think? Would they think you are flighty, unorganized, scatterbrained? How would that affect you? Another aspect of ADHD is excessive or hyper active talking, would your parents get tired of hearing you talk all the time? Would they constantly point out how much you talk? Do you think they would ask you for just five minutes of peace and quiet? How about asking you to try to put what you’re saying in ten words or less? These are only two aspects of ADHD, there are so many more. How do you think this would shape who you are? Would this affect the relationships around you and what other people think of you? How much do you think this would shape how your identity is formed?
